Afternoon Missive: What Are YOU Up To This Weekend?
Mischevians, I’d say I’ve missed you, but I’ve been working and volunteering so much that I’ve barely had time to eat, let alone write. This morning I slept through my alarm, which is something I haven’t done in years, so I’m just lucky the dogs were cool with a short walk. Which they were because, you know, they are dogs..
If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to, I’ve been captaining the evening volunteer shifts at Oakland for Hillary HQ, one of the campaign's outposts in the Easy Bay. As an insanely extroverted human being, helping other volunteers phone bank (or text!) to swing states to help get out the vote (GOTV) has been very, very rewarding. It’s been a wonderful experience so far, and has been well-worth the hours. And since this last week has been so very very very very (did I mention very?) anxiety-inducing, I’ve got a list of fun stuff, some that I found, some that was sent in my you lovely readers.
But before that, Canucks et al, you can skip to the links. I am looking at you, my dear American readers, who do not want a President Trump. You all know how biased I am because I love me some Hillz*, but I write before you humbly and genuinely, with only a soupçon of snark. This is not a drill. This election is happening now, and we only get one shot.
I will be captaining the early (6 AM WOOOOO) shifts at Oakland for Hillary HQ at 3909 Grand Ave all this weekend and through next week. If you are frightened by the polls, which are tightening, channel that energy into volunteering. In Northern California, sign up to GOTV here. Elsewhere, go to HillaryClinton.com/Events and find an official phone bank near you. Stuck at home? Use the HillaryClinton.com/Calls phone bank tool and join my team. Post on social media that you are voting, or have voted, and share why this election is important for you. Pass this email on to your friends, and tell them to reach out if they need help finding something to do.
OK NOW FOR FUN STUFF.
Stop whatever you are doing right now and download Nataly Dawn’s new album Haze. I’ve been listening to it on loop and her raw atmospheric acoustic rock is the only thing keeping me sane right now. “Haze,” “For The Record,” and "Call Your Love” are my favorite tracks. It’s a lovely, haunting, and ear-wormy record.
In other amazing lady music news, Beyonce performed Daddy Lessons with the Dixie Chicks at the Country Music Awards and, as the kids say, it gives me life.
Friend of the Missive Stefana would like everyone to know that Hufflepuff won the final Pottermore House Cup, and that "Hufflepuffs are in fact the best".

OK, this may be political, but it has my movie husband Chris Pine and the fantabulous Alan Tudyk in it, so you should watch If Congress was your co-worker right now.
*Thank you Sheila for that HuffPo piece, it made me LOL as well.
Deep breaths, my darlings. Let’s get through this together.
