Anyone Know How To Switch Careers To Facilitating Bovine Therapy? Asking For A Friend But Also Me.

My dearests! Happy Tuesday, and happy almost-the-end-of-January-I-cannot-believe-I-haven’t-set-my-New-Year’s-intentions-yet-sigh-my-therapist-is-going-to-be-so-disappointed-sigh-what-does-it-say-about-me-that-I’m-including-it-in-the-lede-of-a-newsletter-sigh.
TO THE INTERNET!
The Next Web has a monthly newsletter on women in tech and media curated by friend of the Missive Georgina Ustik, and if the level of Celine Dion gifs and transcribed discussions on the politics of using sex appeal to get ahead is any indication, it’s freaking delightful and you must subscribe.
Speaking of friends of the Missive, Greg K. is a fantastic writer and you should read all of his stuff, especially when it’s on “infamous Bay Area murders of yore”: 'Death at Haight orgy': The 1969 San Francisco murder trial with many witnesses but no convictions.
There’s no easy way to insert this op-ed between the last story and the next, but this breaks my heart, and should be discussed more: Why Does America Hate Its Children? Written by economist Paul Krugman, the subhead is “Reasons child care should be a key election issue” and I want every Dem candidate for president to memorize it.
I forgot who shared this (apologies!) but that’s probably for the best, because I’d likely sue them for nearly spitting coffee all over my phone while reading it: The Muppets Take Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.
And finally, did you know that there’s a thing called Cow Cuddling? It’s getting to hang out with cows on a farm “to brush, pet, and chat with the animals as a way to connect with nature, the bovines, and the inner self.” And before you start making fun of it, I for some reason got SUPER emotional reading about it so HA, joke’s on me!
I appreciate you all so much. Be kind to each other, mmmmkay?
