Commune In The Woods: Should We Create One? And Other Questions I Honestly Asked Yesterday.
Lovelies! I hope your week is treating you well, and that you are taking on these shorter days with good humor and a raised middle finger at your seasonal affective disorder. Work has been insane this week, so excuse the lack of Missive yesterday, but hopefully you find something of interest in the smörgåsbord of content below.
TO THE INTERNET!
Today, in emotionally devastating headlines that perfectly encapsulate our current political situation: Grieving Parents ‘Ambushed’ by Trump, Who Had Teen’s Killer Waiting at White House. Sorry, I meant this headline: Listen to Conference-Goers at Trump Resort Chant for “War!” Ugh, this is so embarrassing, I meant to copy and paste this headline: Blood fills Iowa family’s basement.
No, I don’t want to talk about how Turkey's Erdogan 'threw Trump's Syria letter in bin’ because the existence of such a letter has caused my brain to roll into an armadillo ball and hide.
I try and instill a healthy work/life balance in my teams, but reading What a Compulsive Email Habit Does to Your Mind and Relationships reminded me that I need to practice what I preach more. Did you know that because of French union pressure, “the country mandated that workers at companies with more than 50 employees have the ‘right to disconnect,’ including not having to check email after they’ve gone home.”? That sounds nice.
And finally, thank you to the lovely human amongst you who sent me this story, because I’ve forgotten which of you it was but I am grateful for this moment of levity: Listen to an Underwater Volcano Burp 750-Foot Bubbles.
OH WAIT ONE MORE SWEET THING: A Very Big Dog Named Floyd Had To Be Rescued On A Hike And The Photos Are Heartwarming. Floyd is a GOOD but tired BOY.
Y’all are lovely. See you tomorrow for Reading List.
Be kind to each other!
xoxo Amy
