Donate to Puerto Rico Relief, and Diversity Drama in Silicon Valley
Currently, the island of Puerto Rico is in the midst of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Millions of people - yes, millions - do not have access to water, gas, electricity, or communications infrastructure. Ports are so badly damaged or destroyed that delivering relief efforts is nearly impossible. And a ninety-year-old dam may burst at any minute, with 70,000 people have been ordered to evacuate. It’s an unmitigated disaster. If you want to help, the Huffington Post has a run-down of relief organizations you can financially contribute to.
I'm just getting through the news rabbit hole now, but in terms of reading today, I will be voraciously consuming the inimitable Nellie Bowles’s take on the backlash against equality in tech, “a fringe element of men who say women are ruining the tech world.” I’m only four paragraphs in, and I’m already reading about a man who thinks that “feminists in Silicon Valley had formed a cabal whose goal was to subjugate men.” COOLCOOLCOOLCOOLCOOLCOOLCOOLCOOL.
Happiest of Mondays, darling. Be kind to one another, will you?
