Get Yourself A Partner Who Is As Excited To See You As I Am To Learn About A New Trove Of Primary Source Documents In The Princeton Archives.
Good morning, sweethearts! I hit snooze on my alarm three times this morning, which led me to lying there wondering whether attempting to continue to wake up at 5 am during a plague is a Sisyphean pursuit, but then I remembered that my wee anxious brain is soothed by routine, so I got out of bed, poured an iced coffee and continued on my (early) morning.
And luckily, the internet is still here!
Thank you The Bulwark for asking and answering a question I’ve been muttering to myself over the past few days: Why Is Trump Obsessed with Hydroxychloroquine? And if you thought it might be because he once owned a multi-level marketing firm, ding ding ding! You win an all-expense paid trip to your kitchen, which I’ve heard is beautiful this time of year.
My Mum shared this this morning, but HOO BOY, Princeton finally opened up the Hale Papers, in which T.S. Eliot wrote voluminous love letters to a woman not his wife for seventeen years - a woman he fell out of love with quickly after said wife died. And then that woman, Emily Hale, bequeathed ALL of Eliot’s letters to Princeton with the instruction they remain private until fifty years after her or Eliot’s death, whichever came later. And as someone who spent many hours in the Princeton archives poring over handwritten notes from the forties, I say to you my primary document nerd friends, LET’S DO THIS (yes, I’m trying to find out if they’ve scanned the letters, and if so, whether they’re being made available to alumni…)
Vulture checked in with the writers of the late night shows to see how they’re adapting in the time of COVID, and I really loved this behind-the-scenes look at how creatives are adapting to the new normal.
Welp, “Lifestyle Influencers Are Now Sharing Some Bogus Far-Right Conspiracy Theories About The Coronavirus On Instagram” and I seriously hate late-stage capitalism so hard.
But here’s something good to wash away that influencer garbage: Former CEO of RadioShack now an ER doctor on frontlines of COVID-19 fight. (H/t Mum)
You’re all lovely. Be kind to each other, and get outside for a walk if you can!
xoxo Amy
