Hello Darkness, My Old Friend, Hope This Email Finds You Well.
Ducklings! Trying to write this last night because I have a 7 am call with the East Coast today, so let’s see if evening Amy is more or less fun to read… WE SHALL SEE. (Editor’s note: Morning Amy is not liable for the nonsense of Evening Amy, who is sleepy and and in PJs and just wants to go to read and go to bed. Also, Morning Amy is caffeinated and therefore always more fun to deal with.)
You love to see it: Seditionaries: FBI net closes on Maga mob that stormed the Capitol. Yes, at least 235 people have been arrested for the insurrection at the Capitol, and here’s to hoping there’s more. (The Guardian)
You really, really, really hate to have this confirmed: Trump’s lie that the election was stolen has cost $519 million (and counting) as taxpayers fund enhanced security, legal fees, property repairs and more. But watch as all of a sudden GOP members of the House and Senate suddenly care about fiscal prudence. (Washington Post)
Also… we made Jimmy Carter give up his peanut farm, and yet… Jared And Ivanka Made Up To $640 Million While Working In Washington, Or 457,142 Stimulus Checks There have been so many moments over the past year that I’ve thought about this but... why even try to be a good person? Why? What’s the point of propriety when (gestures wildly at the sky) (Vanity Fair)
And completely unrelated, just another super fun thing on my Instapaper list: German Woman, 95, Charged With Complicity In More Than 10,000 Murders During WWII. She was a typist and a secretary at the Stutthoff concentration camp who claims she wasn’t aware of the mass murders being committed at the camp “because her office window faced outward from the camp.” (NPR)
I think Mum of the Missive sent this to me just for the headline, but I’m not too proud to share: Goats Don’t Vote and now I’m waiting for some tech company consulting group to read this, write a business leadership productivity book that adapts goat leadership to help founders #crushit (and their employees) at a faster pace. (omg, I love science AND capitalism!) (NYT)
Editor’s note: it seems Evening Amy is much saltier and gives far fewer hecks than Morning Amy. The Morning Missive Editorial Board (of plants) will need to reconsider letting her guest host again.
Appreciate you all! Wear your masks, and be kind to each other, won’t you?
xoxo Amy
