I Didn't Know I Could Be This Giddy About Dogs Returning To The White House. But Here We Are.
No small talk this morning, as my apartment was 54 degrees when I woke up and I am typing this under a massive fleece blanket not unlike my holiday card this year. So let’s get to the internet so that I can go sit by my space heater and warm up a bit!
Was going to save this for this week’s Reading List but it’s just too good to hold back. Also, FAUCI 👏 UNLEASHED 👏 IS 👏 THE 👏 BEST 👏 FAUCI: Fauci on What Working for Trump Was Really Like (NYT).
You love to see it: Dominion sues Giuliani for $1.3 billion over 'Big Lie' about election fraud (CNN)
As if working from home for nearly a year isn’t depressing enough, turns out deciding to work from another state could lead to a double tax issue: How working from home due to COVID could be a double tax hit for some (ABC News).
Per usual, Catherine Rampell at WaPo hits everything square on the head: Right on schedule, Republicans pretend to care about deficits again. In case you care, I audibly groaned while reading this. I know we knew this would happen, but COME ON, it’s straight from the playbook and I wish hypocrisy could at least be a bit more poetic!
This is a piece I didn’t expect to read: Gen Z Moms Are Building Their Brands Around Qanon (BuzzFeed News)… Oof.
Color me not at all surprised: How A Pair Of Pickup Artists Turned Into Far-Right Extremists (MEL Magazine) and this is a key sentence: “To consider women as conquests or possessions for the dominant, controlling male is to align yourself with the anti-“social justice warrior” crowd, which rejects the basic tenets of feminism and bemoans the plight of the straight white man.”
And finally, there is something to be joyful about: ONCE AGAIN, THERE ARE DOGS IN THE WHITE HOUSE: The Bidens' dogs, Major and Champ, arrive at the White House (CBS News). And if you’re not following The Oval Pawffice on Twitter, get on it.
Can everyone be sure to send my Dad a little bit of extra love today? And be kind to yourselves, won’t you?
xoxo Amy
