It's Early, I'm Caffeinated, And I Broke My Swearing Grammar Mug. Monday Is Already Getting On My Nerves.
Hello, sweeties. I know I’ve been mentioning it all the time, but we are getting SO close to the election, and you may be SO sick of me reminding you that there are so many ways for you to get involved, but here we are, eight days out, eight days to do all you can to ensure that the Biden/Harris ticket is a resounding win.
So I want to ask you all: if, after 2016, you knit a pussy hat, walked in the Women’s March, attended a protest, posted anything on social media in the ensuing years about the disastrous policies of the Trump administration but haven’t volunteered yet… join me tomorrow night from 4 pm - 7 pm PT to phone bank like your life depended on it. Because it does. I will personally train you in how to phone bank, because it is an effective way to connect with swing state voters and ensure that they get their ballots in, or get to the polls.
And right now, social media posts aren’t enough. You have eight days left to make a real difference. Join me tomorrow (Tuesday) from 4-7 pm PT. Or join at any time that works for you today and one of my captain colleagues will help you out. Make sure you can look back on this time and feel like you did as much as you could.
TO THE INTERNET.
I get asked a. lot. about why I didn’t just hightail it back to Canada when this here pandemic hit. And when this happens again, other than remind them that I’ve lived in the Bay Area for coming up on 12 years and have a life here, I’m going to point them to this LA Times article: How San Francisco became a COVID-19 success story as other cities stumbled.
Friend of the Missive Greg K. knows my penchant for true crime AND hiking, so the fact that he wrote this piece ('Do not hike alone': For 21 months, the Trailside Killer terrorized Bay Area's outdoors) for SFGate and sent it my way to read means my personal brand is, despite the pandemic and election, still intact. Although reading about a 40-year-old killing spree on some of my favorite trails isn’t exactly super for my existing anxiety.
New video games consoles are getting launched next month, and FotM Max is here to tell us why that’s continued good news for gaming stocks.
To all of your I’ve been delayed in texting or calling back, I apologize: Dear F^ck-Up: Why Won't My Friend Text Me Back?
And finally, I for one welcome our new trash panda overlords: “Raccoons break into Bay Area bank”, leaving muddy paw prints and broken ceiling tiles in their wake. The masked bandits were successfully rescued by Animal Control after a call to the Humane Society.
Drink some water. Go for a walk. Join our phone bank. Wear a mask.
And be kind to yourself.
