It's Sweater Weather And I'm Embracing The Chic-Knit-Cocoon Aesthetic As An Excuse To Burrito Myself On Work Calls. Let's Do This, Fall.
I don’t know if you know this, friends, but I’m not exactly a wilting flower (I’m sure you are SHOCKED). I have been told (to my face and through third parties, true story!) that I am a lot. I’m loud, enthusiastic, I swear a lot, I’m not great at hiding emotions on my face, I ask a lot of questions, I sing along to songs on the radio and (badly) dance to music in stores, I try to not tolerate fools (as much as I used to), I’ll make friends the moment I walk into room, and when I get excited about something, you’d better believe I am going to hyper-fixate on it and do it again and again until I am bored.
So anyways, I got a puppy… and I now have empathy for those who can’t tolerate me at my 6 am brightest. Weeeeeeeee I am le tired.
TO THE INTERNET
I grew up listening to and singing country music, amongst other genres, so I should never be surprised how the industry treats women (“country radio program directors are advised against playing too many women artists in a given one-hour programming block; playing two women back to back is downright verboten.”) Country music has a gender issue. Kacey Musgraves is the latest woman to be shut out. (The 19th) And BTW, if you haven’t taken an edible (IF LEGAL IN YOUR CURRENT STATE OF DOMICILE) and listened to Musgraves’s latest album, might I suggest your Saturday plans for you?
The Fisherman’s Wharf In-N-Out has been temporarily shuttered by the city because they aren’t checking vaccine status to dine in the restaurant, despite SF requirements to do so. But I found the kicker graf to be the most illuminating part of the story: “In-N-Out did not immediately respond to a question about what the company’s opposition to vaccine checks means for locations in Contra Costa County or Los Angeles, both of which require proof of vaccination for indoor dining.” (SF Chronicle)
If you haven’t been following the “yoga-taker-to-conspiracist” pipeline, you haven’t been looking at my Facebook feed. Seriously, it’s frightening how many of the yoga influencers I follow have started dabbling in Q-influenced rhetoric: The dark side of wellness: the overlap between spiritual thinking and far-right conspiracies (The Guardian)
Capitalism, bruh: The wealthiest 10% of Americans own a record 89% of all U.S. stocks (CNBC)
And finally, what’s that they say about fools for clients? Risky business: Some Capitol riot defendants forgo lawyers (Associated Press)
Miss you all! Trying to get back in the habit of writing to you every morning, once the dictatorial doggy takes a freaking break from her morning terrors. Don’t forget to fill your water glass before you sit down for meetings, try and get outside even for a moment today, and perhaps try out some box breaths when you have a minute? And of course, be kind to yourself.
xoxo Amy
