INTERNET STUFF!
Heh heh heh: 11 Things That Lasted Longer Than Trump's Blog (BuzzFeed)
I love my city: How San Francisco Brought Its COVID Death Rate Down to Zero (Governing) But somethings I learned from this story - 12 percent of SF voted for the Former Guy in the past election, and “Last year, twice as many people died in San Francisco from drug overdoses than COVID-19.”
Oooooooooooof: Buckingham Palace banned ethnic minorities from office roles, papers reveal (The Guardian) Although I will say, and I am NOT excusing this behavior, my alma mater didn’t allow women to attend as full students until 1969, and these emails wherein the Queen’s chief financial officer discussed not employing minorities is from 1968. Again, no excuse: the revelation of these communications supports a criticism of the monarchy in regards to lingering colonialism and racism, but it’s also a reminder that it wasn’t that long ago that discriminatory policies weren’t just present, they were expected and weren’t a big deal to most of those who weren’t impacted (which is genuinely scarier IMHO).
Horses be doping, I guess? I don’t understand horse-racing: Bob Baffert suspended from home of Kentucky Derby after Medina Spirit's failed drug test confirmed (CNN)
And finally, as an avid consumer of Tik Tok who also happens to be an elder millennial, I am grateful that there’s a New Yorker piece on a podcast that follows what “fame” is now, because Lord knows I don’t understand how it works.
DRINK WATER, FRIENDS! Get that vax, stay safe, and be kind to yourself.
