My Tik Tok Feed Now Consists Of Therapists, Historians, Farmers and Comedians. And I Am One Hundred Percent OK With That.
Darlings! It’s Wednesday and the sun is rising earlier and I thought I was out of coffee but I found some from my emergency stash, and I am taking tomorrow off of work to, I dunno, hike the streets of San Francisco or sleep all day, so I’m in a good mood. Since we’re so far into the “what day is this” quarantine world, I’m taking all of the cheerful moments when I can get them.
And to those celebrating tonight, Happy Passover! Methinks the story of plagues and exile will seem extra relevant this evening (or, you know, TOO SOON.)
TO THE INTERNET!
Are you watching what’s happening in the news and cannot contain and/or express your personal rage at the political clusters compounding the pain of this outbreak? Friend of the Missive Alex Wilhelm is right there with you: “…our political media couches arguments relating to ballot-access in partisan terms, as if the right to vote was little more than a shuttlecock to be bandied about, a topic of conversation and something fit for punditry instead of something that should be inviolate, immovable, and a shared bedrock.”
When I went to the store last week to try and purchase more flour (spoiler alert: couldn’t find any,) I very grumpily passed the fully-stocked Gluten-Free aisle and swore under my breath. Because, you see, it seems like everyone’s food sensitivities have miraculously cured themselves in the post-COVID era: ‘I Just Need the Comfort’: Processed Foods Make a Pandemic Comeback.
Again, how is it that the Steak-Umms twitter account is releasing more thoughtful and comforting content than the White House? Please stop this timeline, I’d like to get off.
In happier news, Mother of the Missive Barb would like to remind everyone that Ryan Reynolds is a very good and charming Canadian who is catching up with old friends who work at the CBC and, with his wife Blake Lively, is donating a lot of money to charity in this difficult time. And I would like to remind you all that I’ve been in love with him since Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place. So, you know, DIBS if his marriage doesn’t work out.
And finally, McSweeney’s is STILL. ON. THEIR. GAME. A COVID-19 Update From The Easter Bunny.
You’re all great. Be kind to each other.
xoxo Amy
