Nature Is Healing: I Was Ignored For A Full Twenty Minutes At The Hardware Store This Weekend #Blessed
Poppets! I sometimes wonder if I should come up with something more creative and edgy for these openings, some witty observation on a current event paired with a delicately crafted quip that will make everyone reading this over their caffeinated beverage chortle to themselves and think “ah yes, this is why I let this strange woman throw links in my face every(ish) morning,” but instead I realize that I genuinely hope you had a lovely and restful weekend, and that you are doing all you can to set yourself up for success this week. Oh, and that you’re drinking water. Please don’t forget to drink water.
TO THE INTERNET!
THIS. IS. BONKERS. EXCLUSIVE: Unmasked, the Christian missionary who went undercover in Jerusalem as an Orthodox rabbi (The JC)
Nothing clever to say, I just think you should read this: National Geographic faced up to its racist past. Did it actually get better? (Vox)
And kudos to the Guardian for a piece like this amongst their double century celebrations - What we got wrong: the Guardian’s worst errors of judgment over 200 years.
Louder, for the folks in the back: “Working remotely for the last year has revealed just how much of office culture is accidental, arbitrary, and sexist.” (Neiman Lab)
And finally, The Washington Post is asking the questions I know we’ve all thought of at least once: Can you eat cicadas? Yes, and here’s the best way to catch, cook and snack on them. (Shout out to Sarah and Ed who, during the last Brood X in Princeton seventeen years ago, were the only one of our friends brave enough to try eating them.)
You’re lovely. Stay safe and be kind to each other.
xoxo Amy
