Reading List: May We All Have The Confidence Of An Unhinged Chef Rant.
Leibchens! Happiest of Fridays, fabulous humans, congrats on making it through another week without absolutely losing it (and even if you did absolutely lose it, you still made it here! Which is a big win!). I am in back-to-back meetings today, which I thought was illegal under international law for a Friday, so this Reading List is a quick one…
TO THE LONGREADS
Geraldine DeRuiter, Bros., Lecce: We Eat at The Worst Michelin Starred Restaurant, Ever (The Everywhereist) - You MUST MUST MUST read this hilarious take on a trip to a fancy-schmancy restaurant gone… wrong?… right? Depends on who you ask, I guess, because you also MUST read the Chef’s response to the review, which is next-level proper batshit and involves horses, for some reason.
Jeremy Barr, ‘We will not be defeated’: 36 hours of Fox News covering its own Christmas tree fire (The Washington Post) - I am le tired, so I am just gonna put this here for you to peruse.
Michael Schulman, On “Succession,” Jeremy Strong Doesn’t Get the Joke (The New Yorker) - As an actor in college, the extent of “method” acting for me was trying to wear my character’s shoes during rehearsals as much as I could (though that might have also been related to how clumsy I am.) So I find this whole this profile fascinating.
Elizabeth Elkin and Deena Shanker, That Cream Cheese Shortage You Heard About? Cyberattacks Played a Part (Bloomberg) - Hey, do you need to be reminded of the fragility of our food supply chain is by reading a story about a hack preventing you from getting that sweet sweet cream cheese? OF COURSE YOU DO, you read this Missive, don’t you?
Elizabeth Lopatto, Elizabeth Holmes Was Always In Control (The Verge) - Haven’t read but cannot WAIT to read. I’ve been binge-following the trial in my spare time (FYI, if you’re not following NYT reporter Erin Griffith on Twitter, where she’s chronicling her day-in, day-out trial coverage experience, run don’t walk to smash that follow button.)
That’s it, that’s all. Be kind to yourself and each other, stay hydrated, and eat a favorite food today, why don’t you?
xoxo Amy
