🇺🇸 Tanzi The Pygmy Falcon 2020 🇺🇸
You generous monsters, have I told you lately that you're amazing? You done gone and raised over $1,000 in 24 hours, which meant I had to put up or shut up on that matching donation of up to $1K. Let the record reflect that I did indeed put up, so those donations had a doubled impact. And I’m also tickled to report that Odd Salon reached its goal of $10K in ONE DAY. It’s amazing. Thank you! And if you didn’t donate, the fundraiser is open until the end of December, and donations are still tax deductible.
TO THE INTERNET!
Yesterday, California Senator Kamala Harris announced she was ending her presidential campaign. Let it be noted that now, two acclaimed female senators from critical states with 9,322,584 votes between them from their last elections have dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primary, while two male billionaires who’ve never held elected office are still flooding the field with cash. Yes, I’m angry.
Today, in devastating news: The Founder of the Apostrophe Protection Society concedes defeat to punctuation abuse. That founder of the society, John Richards, has fought against apostrophe misuse for decades, but is now shutting the society down because “The ignorance and laziness present in modern times have won!” This makes me very sad, mostly because had I known this organization existed, I would have started a Bay Area chapter (see exhibit A below)
At a reception at Buckingham Palace, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation caught Prime Minister Trudeau and a gaggle of world leaders including French President Macron, Dutch PM Rutte, UK PM Johnson and Princess Anne seemingly discussing President Trump’s conduct at the NATO Summit. Following the release of the video, Trump called Trudeau “two-faced.”
Stop whatever you’re doing and download the latest episode of Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, wherein the leggy ginger talk show host interviews Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. It’s a sobering reminder of what could have been, but also really funny to boot and quite good for the soul. The moment that touched me the closest was when Secretary Clinton talks about how optimism is at the root of resiliency, which I understand and appreciate deeply.
And finally, a photographer at the Cincinnati Enquirer took glam shots of the animals at the zoo. AND IT WAS GLORIOUS. In other news, Tanzi the pygmy falcon is now my patronus.
Again, thank you all for your generosity. It means the world.
