The Days Are Getting Shorter, And My Inner Gremlin Loves The Excuse To Bundle Up In Layers And Go To Bed Earlier. And Yes, I Know It's Still August.
Dearests! Happy Wednesday, may your hump day be productive and filled to the brim with an amount of caffeine that skirts the divide between performance enhancement and an outright anxiety attack. And may you always fall on the former end of that spectrum.

Today, may we channel the fiery indignation of a local news editor appraising the draconian rules imposed on journalists covering a DeSantis / Vance political rally (and no, there isn’t an error in your browser, they start off with a placeholder image with a caption stating “Not pictured here are…”) We reject the free speech-trampling rules set by J.D. Vance and Ron DeSantis for covering their rally: Letter from the Editor (Cleveland.com)
I cannot get enough of scathing reviews of the Jared Kushner memoir, and that’s hard for me, because I hate knowing the political devastation wrought by him and his ilk, but I also love watching word nerds go to town on this precious little rich boy trying to launder his image: I’ve Read Nearly All the Books by Former Trump Officials. Just gonna put this here for the multitude of SF dwellers who espouse the virtues of picking up your toys and leaving the California sandbox: Data: Texas doesn't have a state income tax, but most residents pay more in taxes than Californians (The Houston Chronicle). But of course, it’s the bottom that pays a higher percent of their income, so it doesn’t surprise me that they are left out of the crypto libertarian talking points - from the piece:
Texans in the bottom 20 percent of income earners — those earning less than $20,900 — pay 13 percent of their income in state and local taxes, while those in the top 1 percent of income earners — those earning $617,900 or more — pay only 3.1 percent.
In California, the bottom 20 percent of income earners — those earning less than $23,200 — pay 10.5 percent in state and local taxes, while the top 20 percent — those earning $714,400 or more — pay 12.4 percent.I’ve been trying to hire for a few roles for months now, do it’s not like I needed to know there are people out there deepfaking their way into fraudulent employment: You just hired a deepfake. Get ready for the rise of imposter employees. (Protocol)

And finally, do you just wish you could also use LinkedIn as a way to build your thought leader career around inane observations leveled up into grandiose pronouncements on the universe? Well, lucky for you, there’s a Viral Post Generator just for you! (And thank you to SO many of you who sent me this, it’s like you know me or something ;) )
You’re lovely! Drink some water, get outside, be kind to yourself.
