Poppets! We’re an hour late this morning because I, for some reason, decided that tidying my apartment at six in the morning was a super idea. So now I have a clean bathroom sink but no Missive, AMA! J/K, don’t, I have no entertaining answers for my anxiety-driven need to organize cosmetics.

  • A lion expert wrote about the inaccuracies of actually pride family dynamics in The Lion King, “In real life, Simba’s mom would be running the pride”, and I LOVE IT.

  • This is a couple of days old, but Friend of the Missive Max Cherney is chronicling some fascinating goings on in Canadian cannabis market short selling, and that’s a sentence I’m sure our Boomer readers thought they’d never read! Per usual, Max is at the forefront of pot big business, and it is fascinating to read!

  • If you’ve watched the latest season of Stranger Things, like me you may have noticed the entire strangely revisionist New Coke scene (explosive claim: it was actually good!) Well, New Coke apologist Mother Jones is coming at you with a few more “facts” and “timelines,” a deep dive into the Big Soda lobby, and a claim that the backlash was a “Southern Rebellion.” THIS IS GOOD CONTENT, FOLKS: New Coke Didn’t Fail. It Was Murdered.

  • FotM Colin points out that Pierre Trudeau, former Canadian Prime Minister and father of the current Canadian Prime Minister, was beautifully optimistic about 2019, which makes his 1969 wish for “… progress in man’s historic struggle for freedom and justice in all parts of the world” more bittersweet.

  • Sometimes you need some good and kindness in your life: Mr. Rogers Had a Simple Set of Rules for Talking to Children. (h/t Michael)

And FotM Alex reminded me yesterday that I owe y’all more goats. So here are some goat gifs for your Wednesday :)

Be kind to each other. And be kind to yourself, ok? Promise?

Xoxo Amy
